top ice cream party games

at any age ice cream is a fantastic theme for a party. its great for the summer, especially when you have a pool and its great for the winter, see if you can find ana ice cream parlour that do parties!

i ow an ice cream parlour and we do children's parties, there always a lot of fun and sometimes messy, but the kids have a few hours of fun!

if your thinking about theming your own ice cream party then i've got some ideas for you:

Music

create a playlist on your computer, or make a CD, prepare it so you have 3-4 hours of music so you dont have to keep changing and if theres a few songs skipped because of personal peferance there's still enough on the CD to play right through.

Clothes

It may be a good idea to either have aprons or explain that the childre will need to bring old clothes to wear because it may get messy and sticky. but fun!

Food and snacks

the children will be eating a lot of ice cream during the party, but having a small table with bits and bobs on will be good for them, such as fruit and crips. maybe even some dips with vegtables.

Games

there are some games that you just play at any part but there are also some great ones themed around ice cream;

• Chinese whispers - very popular. you all sit in a cirlce and someone says a sentence in the ear of the person next to them, they only say it once and its whispered. that person has to whisper to the next person what they thought they heard, again only once and it goes right round the circle as many times as u like then when u come to the end the sentence gets spoken out loud. you get some funny answers!!
• Tasteblind - messy but a good laugh. you get the chidren to sit in pairs or threes facing each other. they get blind folded and one child has a bowl of ice cream and has to feed it to the oppisite person, the oppisite child has their arms behind their back so they cant try and help. of course supervision is advised in case on eye gouging and other injuruies. the players have to try and feed each other then guess the flavour, the winners are those the cleanest and it the most right answers.
• The Forbidden topping - you set up 6-8 different topping (smarties, sprinkles, chocolate buttons, jelly babies..etc) in small bowls on a table and the chidren have a small empty bowl each. one player is chosen to leave the room so they cant hear or see anything of the group during which the group decides on "the forbidden group". once the player comes back in he/she puts a spoonful of eaach topping into their bowl, they have to choose them carefully because if they choose the forbidden topping their go ends. at the end all the children get to eat what they managed to get with their ice cream!
• cherry on the bottom - place a cherry, perferably maraschino at the bottom of a bowl then fill the bowl with whipped cream. the players have to race to the bottom to get the cherry without using their hands! prepare for a messy race.
• blindfold one child and stand them in front of a table already prepared with bowls of toppings and ice cream and an empty bowl. the other children have to guide the blindfolded child to make a sundae. good luck!

End of day goodie bags

you can buy little part bags and put some sweets, chocolate, a keyring, ice cream sundae ideas, hair accessories, badges any nice bits and bobs.
